Summary
A “great place for meats grilled over coals (hence the name)”, in the famous Lanes, that was launched two years ago by friends Isaac and ‘BBQ king’ Dave. While the meats are the main event, “everything is delicious” (there are also small plates on the menu) and it makes a “great place for a semi-casual business lunch or dinner – the open kitchen takes the pressure off the conversation”. Top Tip – “they have launched meat-sharing platters on Sundays (it actually ended up being too much… but the meat was so brilliantly done we just kept eating it!”).

“Lovely food, cooked over – you guessed it! – embers” is the proposition at this year-old “smokehouse on the Lanes”, with a “lovely atmosphere” created by a brigade led by “two well-known chefs with fine-dining backgrounds” – Isaac Bartlett-Copeland, formerly of restaurant Isaac@, and ‘BBQ king’ Dave Marrow. Be warned, though – the “creative small plates” are “truly excellent” but “it’s quite smoky in there and the food isn’t for the faint-hearted”.
