Harden's says
Ex-Morston Hall couple, chef Greg Anderson and general manager Rebecca Williams opened this restaurant with rooms in Holt late in 2021; the Grade II-listed site was formerly Yetman’s. The 20-cover restaurant serves an evening tasting menu.
Harden's survey result
Summary
“Goes from strength to strength – an absolute treat” – Greg Anderson & Rebecca Williams’s simply but tastefully converted Georgian townhouse provides “exceptional service and attention to detail in calm, and beautiful surroundings”. The cuisine is “exquisite” too (“the food stands comparison with any of the top restaurants we’ve eaten in the world over”). At dinner, there’s a ten-course tasting menu for £150 per person (a cheaper four-course menu for £85 is also available earlier in the week, and on Saturday lunchtimes): “it’s good that the chefs themselves bring the food to the table and give an introduction” and “each course has many ingredient combinations, blending into a perfect composite and displayed with great artistry”. Top Tip – “Stay in one of their three rooms if you can, and take advantage of Rebecca’s wine expertise”.
Summary
“A triumph!” – “Exquisite food, meticulously prepared and as stunning to look at as it is to taste”, all alongside “delightfully attentive but unpretentious service and interesting wines too”, are the key strengths of Greg Anderson and Rebecca Williams’s “exceptional” three-year-old. “We loved Rebecca and Greg when they were at Morston Hall, and their talents truly shine in their own restaurant”. “Greg has a lightness of touch that many chefs don’t achieve” and “working out of a small kitchen, he uses local produce wherever possible to produce delightful food. He is ably partnered by Rebecca, who charmingly runs the three delightful rooms and front of house as well as being an excellent sommelier. The wine flight that she organises is a delicious adventure every time”. Most reporters also like the “minimalist” decor, and think “it’s a great touch having the cutlery cunningly concealed in a drawer in the table”. A large number of top gastronomic experiences are reported here. “We will definitely be back next time we’re in Norfolk”.
Summary
“Holt in Norfolk is a jewel of a market town, and Meadowsweet is a little jewel of a restaurant with rooms” that’s won acclaim as “a superb addition to the county” since its 2021 launch by Greg Anderson and Rebecca Williams. “Service is personal and spot on” and “the house and dining room feel warm and friendly without trying to be bleeding edge”. When it comes to the “ambitious” ten-course menu for £130 per person – “every dish is thoughtful and delicious” with “chefs all working out of a tiny space and involved in introducing the courses”. “Prices seem to have risen sharply since they got their Michelin star, but we think it’s worth it!” – “worth the journey… bravo!”
Summary
“Truly world-class cookery… what an achievement to get a Michelin star after such a short time being open” – Greg Anderson and Rebecca Williams’s summer 2021 launch (given top marks in Harden’s several months before the Tyre Men’s accolades!) is one of the more exciting rural openings of recent times, certainly up Norfolk way. “Greg’s cooking is deft, refined, exquisite and packed with beautiful flavours, while Rebecca's service is thoughtful, considerate, knowledgeable and warm. When the chefs bring the dishes to the table they comment on the food with humility and charm. Not a false note or a jarring element in numerous courses.” One ardent fan finds the rise in price of the tasting menu since it opened (from £85 to £130 per person) “alarming” (although you do get more courses now). The most representative view though? – “Just completely stunning in every sense of the word. We were blown away by every aspect of our meal. Can’t wait to dine again!”
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Meadowsweet Restaurant Diner Reviews
"An excellent tasting menu with a really good selection of canapés. They were pretty and individually tasty. The lobster was cooked well as expected. The veal sweetbread was very well executed and a great dish to be interspersed between the lobster and the following monkfish. The duck was very good, if not exceptional. My granddaughter and I elected to share a cheese course: an excellent decision as there was a 7 cheese variety for all tastes. The strawberry dessert was tasty and refreshing. The selection of a chocolate sweetie was an innovate ending to a memorable meal. I, again, elected to go with my own wine choice: an English sparking glass and a a bottle of St. Aubin. This proved to be a very good choice and OK value. Overall, the cost is expensive but good value. I the restaurant was nearer to Lancashire, I would definitely revisit! y"
