Harden's says
The first Manchester foray for D&D London sits atop the new No.1 Spinningfields skyscraper. Sitting at 100 metres it is the city's highest restaurant and boasts a rooftop garden terrace, from which spectacular views are likely a given. Brian Hughson has been named as head chef, replacing Aiden Byrne who has left the project to re-launch Manchester House.

While it has been dismissed in the past as a one-trick pony, what feedback there was this year was very positive, with one reporter commenting that, “so often the view is the attraction and the basics suffer — but not here, where the service and food match the view”.

In line with the group’s DNA, it’s sometimes dismissed in online reviews as being a case of great-view-shame-about-everything else. But our feedback – if still surprisingly limited – all pretty upbeat.

“Spectacular views over the Manchester city skyline and beyond” can make this “slick” D&D London operation “a breathtaking venue (but don’t look down – the clue is in the name)”. Fans also hail its “well-prepared” modern brasserie dishes, but for such a landmark venue, reports remain surprisingly limited, so we’ve maintained last year’s conservative food rating.

It has the 360° vistas, it has the rooftop terrace planted with trees scaling two storeys, but whether it has top cuisine is more debatable at this D&D London operation, named for its position at the top of the Spinningfields Tower. Feedback remains limited and muted, but in early 2022, Daniel Scott (whose recent CV includes Mana) took over the stoves, so perhaps change is afoot. To dip a toe in the water, sample the view from the cocktail bar.
