Harden's says

Lee Clarke's Peterborough restaurant Prévost moved to this newly refurbished historic hotel on the River Nene, where you might stay in a room once occupied by Queen Victoria. Ex-L'Enclume chef Sam Nash joins Clarke to run both Prévost and the more casual Haycock Kitchen.

“Interesting, contemporary, fun and welcoming” – this attractive hotel just off the A1 near Peterborough had a major re-launch in 2022 and its main dining room in a converted orangery wins praise from locals for “one of the best tasting menus around and a beautiful room”. “There was a recent change of head chef” (it’s now Rikki Hughes at the stoves) “but the quality is still top notch” with an affordable a la carte ‘entry’ option at £45 per person, and an eight-course menu of real ambition for £95 per person.

“Exquisite food with fabulous presentation, every time” is again hailed at Lee Clarke’s relocated venue, which moved in 2021 into the revamped Grade II-listed Haycock Manor Hotel, in a lovely village near Peterborough. “My wife and I had eaten three times at Prevost when it was in town – standards have remained high as Lee’s imagination and the technique of his chefs is perhaps even more precise here, with a multi-course menu that’s a delightful taste journey”.

“Worth a trip”“Prevost has always been a destination stop in Peterborough but since its move to the Haycock it has surpassed even its own excellent offer” – so say fans of Lee Clarke’s fine-dining restaurant which reopened in 2021 in the revamped Grade II-listed Haycock Manor Hotel in a cute village on the fringe of Peterborough. Perhaps “it deserves a star”“the food is superb and interesting” and there’s “a new expanded wine list”. In February 2022, the FT declared the new launch “an amazing project” (“the Baron Bigod had been made into an ice cream, sandwiched between two oat crisps and dotted with gooseberry gel. I could easily have eaten four”).

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
